At the end of each school year young Morris "Mud" Himmel and his friends are unceremoniously packed off by their parents to summer camps that specialize in computer programming, military training, or calorie counting. However, this summer Morris and his clever cohorts have determined to create their own vacation haven. And with help from out-of-work high school drama teacher Dennis Van Welker (Christopher Lloyd) -- who passes himself off to each of the kids' parents as the owner of different phony theme camps -- the kids fabricate an elaborate scheme to take control of their summer. With no counselors, no rules or parental supervision, calamity prevails as the teens turn a rented group of dilapidated cabins near a leech-filled lake into the wildest, video game-filled, junk food eating and unencumbered summer camp a parent would never allow his kids to attend; in short -- the best camp in the world.

I bought this for my son and he loves it. I like it because it is nice and relaxing and peaceful and great before bedtime. It has good music and it is really cute. I think this would make a great gift for toddlers. My son is almost 5 now and I think he will enjoy this dvd for many more years to come.

This video contains the complete 28 movement symmetrical Yang style form, Section One of the Symmetrical Yang Style. This is the first section of the Tchoung-Yang Long Form. This DVD was designed specifically for NWTCCA students to be used as a class review.

This video will review the first ten movements and then go into the last 18 movements of the form. It will include some adaptations of the movements for students who have orthopedic problems.

Basic concepts are explored in detail as well as methods to adapt problem movements for at risk students.

This video is the second in a series and assumes the student understands all the exercises and movements taught in Volume One. It was designed for NWTCCA beginning students and is ideal for the beginning students to review material they learned in class. It also will be of interest to students and teachers of other styles who may learn exercises to supplement their training program.

This style is called the symmetrical form of the Old Version of Yang Style. It includes concepts and movements that are unique to this version of Yang style.

It is recommended that students take classes with certified instructors, as DVDs are not recommended for self-study. But rather are useful for class review.

All students should clear this exercise program with their physician. Do not do any exercises that you know will cause you pain. Do only the exercises that are appropriate for you. There should be no pain or discomfort in any of the exercises shown.

This DVD features Sifu Harvey Kurland MS, MFS, CSCS. Sifu Kurland is only one of five Americans who were officially certified to teach this style by Grandmaster Tchoung Ta-tchen. Kurland is certified by the Chinese T'ai- Chi Ch'uan Association, American College of Sports Medicine, International Sports Sciences Association, and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He has a Masters Degree in Exercise Science and Sports Medicine and was the Director of Exercise Physiology for the National Athletic Health Institute for many years. He is also a trained Health Educator and was Wellness Director for the Community Colleges of Spokane for several years.

Currently Kurland teaches for several Universities and Colleges. He currently teaches for the University of California Riverside, Loma Linda University Drayson Center, Redlands Aikikai and Riverside Community College.

The vampire-turned-hunter saga Hellsing owes a lot to both the original and remake of Vampire Hunter D. In Britain, vampires that were artificially created by implanting chips in their necks are attacking people. Dispatching them is the job of the Royal Order of Religious Knights, headed by the icy (and apparently female) Sir Integra Hellsinger. Her chief agent, the red-clad Arucard, destroys one vampire, then turns police woman Victoria into a servant-vampire, bound to him. The outré story violates the rules of the traditional legends: vampires wear crosses, enter churches, and pose as priests; Hellsinger's mortal enemy is the Vatican's Iscariot Organization. The animation is very static, and the design style changes from character to character. Despite grotesque imagery borrowed from Night of the Living Dead, the result is more silly than scary, and the series suffers from underdeveloped characters, a plot that is sketchy at best, a surfeit of pointless violence, and inadvertently hilarious dialogue.

In subsequent episodes, Luke and Jan, the Valentine Brothers, lay siege to the headquarters of the Hellsing organization, the Royal Order of Religious Knights. After numerous humans have been killed and eaten by an army of ghouls, Sir Integra Hellsinger, Arucard, and Seras must hunt down the perpetrators. Not surprisingly, the finale is elaborate, violent, and inconclusive. The closing titles announce that the search for the creators of the artificial vampires continues, so a sequel may be in the works. Complete series uncomplete - Graves -
This anime was extremely well made. The graphics were dark and graphic matching the type of series this is. The audio was outstanding and the action was amazing. There were, however, a couple of things that did not make this series hit home for me. First the series is only 13 episodes, which leaves room for longing more. The series also is pretty incoherent, the beginning and end really do not fit in with the middle plot. The beginning just seems like they are adding much to the story except to further the characterization, the fixes this problem and has a smooth transition between episodes, but the end leaves wonder as to what happened, and what will happen.

*spoiler*Arucard pretty much just hack another vampire and boom series over. *end spoiler*

Though there are a few things that I found problematic with the series I still suggest adding it to your collection.

Dennis Quaid and Rene Russo, the sexiest adults in Hollywood, anchor Yours, Mine and Ours, an enjoyably traditional family film. Frank Beardsley (Quaid, In Good Company, The Rookie), a Coast Guard admiral, runs his brood of eight kids like a military squad; Helen North (Russo, Tin Cup, Get Shorty), a designer, keeps her multicultural family of ten together with a more free and creative hand. The two run into each other and rekindle their high school romance, getting married before the kids even have a chance to meet. The two families naturally experience a bit of culture clash. After squabbles, disputes, and outright fights, the kids agree on one thing: They have to split up Frank and Helen so they can return to their old lives. Yours, Mine and Ours doesn't hold any surprises, but after a rushed beginning, the movie settles into a series of brisk, cheerful skirmishes among the kids and some truly sweet interludes between Quaid and Russo, who handle their mature romance with graceful, seasoned aplomb. This straightforward movie cruises by on energy and enthusiasm, and sometimes, that's enough for a good time. --Bret Fetzer

Pleasant but more farfetched the the 1968 original - Gregory Ehrbar - Orlando, FL
This film recast Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda with Rene Russo and Dennis Quaid. Ironically, even though the 1968 version starred two iconic legends in 1968, the remake seemed more farfetched and broad.

Dennis Quaid played a higher ranking officer who still had plenty of time for his kids and Rene Russo appeared as a quintessential successful businesswoman who also balanced a lot of time bonding with her kids and a talking stick -- and looked fantabulous.

In the original, Henry Fonda played a career military man who had little time for his family until his wife's death forced him to get to know his somewhat resentful children and Lucille Ball played a military nurse. So much for the "phoney, fakey Hollywood" of yesterday as opposed to the "more relatable, honest" Hollywood of today.

That said, even though it did not compare favorably overall to the original, the new Yours Mine and Ours was entertaining. The audio commentary and extras were very good.

BOY NAMED CHARLIE BROWN

Things get off to a bumpy start. First, Charlie fails to make anything profound out of the cloud formations above, just a "ducky" and a "horsy." (But that's always been one of his best qualities--he calls them as he sees them.) Then he has a disastrous kite experience, followed by further humiliation on the baseball field (with its dandelion-covered pitching mound). Just when it seems as if things couldn't get much worse--they don't. Charlie finds something he's good at. Lucy, Violet, and the rest of the Peanuts gang doubt that his spelling bee winning streak can possibly last, but Charlie proves them all wrong and makes it to the national championships in New York City. His best pal, Linus, and free-spirited pooch, Snoopy, arrive shortly afterwards and provide their support. Granted, this rare, full-length feature film ends just as it began, with one more small humiliation, but it's Charlie's achievement that leaves the bigger impression. There are even a few lessons to be learned, but the tone is never preachy or condescending. Along the way, there are numerous pleasures to enjoy: Vince Guaraldi's classic Oscar-nominated score (featuring lyrics by Rod McKuen), the brightly hued, clean-lined animation (which occasionally erupts into impressionist and pop art flights of fancy), Schroeder's lovely rendition of Beethoven's Pathetique Sonata, Snoopy's ice-skating escapade at Rockefeller Plaza, and Linus's Fred Astaire-inspired dance with his long lost blanket. --Kathleen C. Eloise Goes to School - Robert Smith -
I purchased this as a gift to my grand niece and grand nephew (ages 3 and 5).

I had previously bought them the 2 Eloise movies "At the Plaza" and "At Christmas." They both enjoyed the previous "Eloise" movies.

This DVD "Eloise goes to School" was defective. The DVD just stopped about 15 minutes into the movie and both kids started crying, and my grand niece thought that something bad happened to Eloise --- even though this movie is a cartoon.

All efforts to figure out what was wrong proved to no avail. We re-inserted the movie "Eloise at the Plaza" to calm down my Grand Niece a bit.

I told their Mother to throw away the "Eloise goes to School" DVD, and tell the kids that I'll buy a different DVD from a local retailer.

What I thought was going to be a beautiful evening, turned out to be a horrible nightmare.

I bought this DVD not too long ago and have fallen in love with it. I have seen perhaps 3 versions of Swan Lake, and in my opinion, this one is the best. Gillian Murphy is absolutely perfect. She communicates her feelings so well and is so very, very graceful that I never tire of watching her, and Angel Corella is a very, very handsome Prince. He is also very expressive and you can see his love for her. But perhaps the best thing of all is the choreography. It is absolutely perfect. And right behind it are the costumes. They are beautiful, absolutely beautiful. The sets are very good too. I think their (ABT)interpretation of Swan Lake, the story, is the best. They match the dancing to the music perfectly and it perfectly tells the story. My compliments to the American Ballet Theater. I love it. I just love it.

most reviews of "snow white, a tale of terror" highlight the wonderful performance of sigourney weaver as the wicked queen, in addition to touching on either how good (or not) monica keena was as snow white, or 'lilly'. while both, in my opinion were great casting coups, the pleasant surprise in this movie comes from gil bellows. this is not your sometimes annoying, ultra clean cut 'ally mcbeal'/'miami rhapsody' gil bellows. this is gil as we've never seen him before, (and most likely never will again). he's dirty, scruffy, sweaty, smuldering, and sexy-- the perfect tortured anti-hero of this twisted tale. his presence presents yet another welcomed curb in the road as this interpretation of the classic story continues its journey off of the beaten path. if watch this film for nothing else, watch it for gil bellows.

Here's an event movie that holds up to being an event. This filmed version of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, adapted from the wildly popular book by J.K. Rowling, stunningly brings to life Harry Potter's world of Hogwarts, the school for young witches and wizards. The greatest strength of the film comes from its faithfulness to the novel, and this new cinematic world is filled with all the details of Rowling's imagination, thanks to exuberant sets, elaborate costumes, clever makeup and visual effects, and a crème de la crème cast, including Maggie Smith, Richard Harris, Alan Rickman, and more. Especially fine is the interplay between Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) and his schoolmates Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson), as well as his protector, the looming Hagrid (Robbie Coltrane). The second-half adventure--involving the titular sorcerer's stone--doesn't translate perfectly from page to screen, ultimately because of the film's fidelity to the novel; this is a case of making a movie for the book's fans, as opposed to a transcending film. Writer Steve Kloves and director Chris Columbus keep the spooks in check, making this a true family film, and with its resourceful hero wide-eyed and ready, one can't wait for Harry's return. Will and the Banks family snipe and bicker cheerfully while grappling with problems ranging from true-to-life to truly preposterous. The more realistic side of life is found in episodes such as when Will's mother Vy (Vernee Watson-Johnson) has a new boyfriend and Will gets jealous, or when Will finds himself attracted to a girl (Queen Latifah, Bringing Down the House), but won't take her to the prom because she's overweight. The ridiculous side bursts out when Will and his pompous cousin Carlton (Alfonso Ribeiro) decide to make money by becoming strippers.

But whether realistic or silly, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air stays a crisp, clean sitcom, with snappy writing and brisk, capable interplay among the cast, which also included James Avery and Janet Hubert-Whitten as Mr. and Mrs. Banks, the tolerant and usually sensible parents; Karyn Parsons as the spoiled, narcissistic Hilary; Tatyana M. Ali as the cute, sassy Ashley; and Joseph Marcell as the droll British butler Geoffrey. Despite living in a fantasyland of wealth, the show regularly touched on racial and class issues--lightly, but not turning a blind eye to the complexities of American life. When Will's aunt Janice (Charlayne Woodard, The Crucible) wants to marry a white man, Vy refuses to accept the match; Geoffrey falls in love with a neighbor, but rejects her when he learns that she's an heiress and not a housekeeper. The writers are clever enough to subvert expectations, such as when Will loses a basketball game so another player can catch the eye of a pro scout--only to learn that the other player thinks professional sports are an absurd gamble and doesn't want that kind of career. Through it all, Will Smith kept the show from being just a showcase for himself; he's secure enough to let the other actors take the spotlight, but carries episodes easily when they're built around him. No longer a rookie in this season, his comic chops start to equal his cocky charm, making the second season particularly strong. --Bret Fetzer

Dragon Ball GT (1996), the third animated series based on Akira Toriyama's manga, takes place ten years after the final episode of Dragon Ball Z. Things have changed: Trunks is the president of the Capsule Corporation; Gohan has married Videl. Goku's old enemy Pilaf invades the Celestial Realm to seize the ultra-powerful Black Dragon Balls, but he messes up his wish and asks that Goku be reduced to a child. King Kai warns that the Black Dragon Balls, which have scattered among the stars, must be returned to Earth within a year or the planet will explode. Goku and Trunks set off to find them, accompanied by Pan, Gohan's obnoxious daughter. After fighting a number of underlings, the trio finally meets the main villain of the series: Baby, the last survivor of the Tuffle (originally Tsufrulian) race. A nasty creature with a head like a crescent moon, Baby can infiltrate the bodies of others and absorb their energy. He wants to acquire the power of the Saiyans and subjugate the galaxy. Quite a number of battles ensue, and Goku has to have his tail restored to give him the power to tackle Baby. The filmmakers undercut their efforts to create excitement by being silly. Buu and Uub reunite to form Majuub, but he fights by turning his foes into chocolate. The story also lacks originality: when Trunks is caught in a metal trap by General Rilldo, it's too obviously copied from Han Solo's emprisonment in the block of carbonite. Both Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z were boys' clubs: Goku and the Z-fighters trained together, fought common enemies and sought to become the strongest. Creating a major role for a girl in the series was a worthwhile idea, but the filmmakers make too Pan whiny and fussy to fit into the rough and tumble world. The weakest entry in the Dragon Ball saga, GT only ran for 64 episodes. (Rated TV PG, suitable for ages 8 and up: violence, violence against women, alcohol use, nudity) --Charles Solomon

What I like about it is that it did not talk about the war from one prespective and gave the picture from all sides. It has explanatory maps and read notes and diaries that really gives you a feeling of what was really going on.

Spike Lee scored his biggest hit to date with Inside Man, an unconventional thriller with fascinating details in the margins of its convoluted plot. The screenplay (by first-timer Russell Gerwitz) could've used a few more rewrites; it moves at a brisk pace but in hindsight a lot of it doesn't make sense. That makes Inside Man more fun to watch than to think about afterwards (when you discover plot holes big enough to drive a truck through), but it's curiously involving, especially as NYPD Detective Keith Frazier (Denzel Washington) struggles to outsmart a high-stakes bank robber (Clive Owen) who, along with a well-trained crew of accomplices, has seized control of a Wall Street bank, turning what initially looks like a hostage crisis into a personal crusade to expose some mysterious evil secrets. As you might expect from the director of Do the Right Thing, Lee seizes several satisfying opportunities to examine post-9/11 issues of racial prejudice and domestic terrorism, and the mysterious "problem solver" Madeline White (Jodie Foster), as eerily sinister as she is vaguely defined, is worthy of her own movie. With the benefit of his most stellar cast to date (including Christopher Plummer, Willem Dafoe and Chiwetel Ejiofor), Lee seems more interested in character details than well-crafted suspense, but that doesn't stop Inside Man from being engrossing, subtly amusing, and quirky enough to qualify as a welcomed break from the formulaic thrillers that are Hollywood's bread and butter.--Jeff Shannon

The overarching storyline of Over the Hedge is pure formula--your basic "family matters more than anything" lesson--but moment to moment, the movie is delightfully crisp and clever. The animation is topnotch, the acting is excellent (other voices include those of Allison Janney, The West Wing, and Thomas Haden Church, Sideways), and the satirical jabs at consumerism are actually funny. reclusive author of Me and God, a
book that has redefined spirituality for an entire generation and has been translated into over 100 languages. On the eve of the 20th anniversary of his still wildly popular book, Arlen is still sought after as the man who has all the answers. Arlen's life collides with Elizabeth (Lauren Graham), a single mom raising her seven-year-old son, and Kris (Lou Taylor Pucci), a young man fresh out of rehab who is searching for meaning. Both Elizabeth and Kris are hopeful that Arlen has the answers, but the truth is, he hasn't got a clue.

Jeff Daniels shines as a know-it-all who really doesn't in The Answer Man, a 2009 romantic comedy whose predictability does very little to detract from its overall charm. Daniels plays Arlen Faber, author of Me and God, a mega-selling tome in which he asks some tough existential questions ("Does prayer work?" "I don't believe in you. Now what?"), with the answers allegedly dictated by the Almighty himself. The book led to numerous spinoffs (The Me and God Diet, anyone?), but as the 20th anniversary of its publication nears, Faber is a reclusive misanthrope who tosses fan mail aside without a glance, swears a lot, and utters pithy aphorisms that are a good deal less charitable than before ("Hell is other people"). He also has a back problem, which one day brings him to chiropractor Elizabeth (Lauren Graham), a single mom who works wonders on Arlen's spine but, amazingly, has never heard of him; she in turn buys the book at a shop owned by Kris (Lou Taylor Pucci), who's just out of alcohol rehab and about to lose his store to his many creditors. That the lives of these three, especially Arlen and Elizabeth (as well as her winning young son), will soon become intertwined is hardly a revelation; nor is the fact that Arlen, for all his wisdom, is a self-conscious doofus who can barely express his own feelings. But writer-director John Hindman's screenplay has some excellent dialogue, and while some of the situations are overly silly and facile, Hindman goes easy on the more cutesy and cloying aspects (an ongoing bit involving Ella Fitzgerald's recording of "Isn't It Romantic" is most amusing). It's not As Good as It Gets, but The Answer Man is just fine. --Sam Graham

There, he takes a menial job, finds an unlikely friend in Eugene (Shea Whigham), a laconic Russian rocker, and meets apathetic girls in a lousy bar. The monotony of it all is broken up, finally, when Zia gets word that his girlfriend back on the mortal plane also killed herself, prompting him to take Eugene on the road in search of her. Naturally, the trip becomes a journey in unexpected new directions and new hope (particularly when a comely hitchhiker, played by Shannyn Sossamon, jumps aboard), though a diversion at a camp for miracles run by an eccentric (Tom Waits) adds a lot of color. Only five star rating? - Nancynicism - Climbin' in yo windows.
This movie is worth more than five stars in my book.
First off, you start with the main character (Zia) slitting his wrists. He successfully kills himself, which opens him up to to some sort of limbo world. This world is only open to people who "off themselves".
Along his way in the strange world, he finds friends, miracles, and acceptance. He goes on a search and ends up finding what he didn't even know he was looking for. This movie is a MUST SEE if you are one for parallel worlds/alternate reality type movies. :)
5/5 stars!

What is going on where is the extended? That is what makes it so good! How ultimate is it when you get a pritty box that has the same stuff you already bought? Where is the extended edition? Sure we get a couple pictures, cards and books to add to the collection. Although I want the extended edition so I can watch it crystal clear, without all the commercials. The power of art to defy and even transcend politics and oppression is the theme of Shostakovich Against Stalin: The War Symphonies, director Larry Weinstein's documentary about Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich and the six symphonies he composed while his homeland suffered under the brutal dictatorship of Josef Stalin. Born in 1906, Shostakovich gained considerable prominence after the unveiling of his first symphony in 1926, by which time Lenin was dead, the USSR had been founded, and Stalin had assumed power as General Secretary of the Communist Party. Thereafter, the composer was subject to the whims of the dictator. An early opera, "Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk" (a depiction of "the justified murder of a tryant"), led to his being banned; his Symphony No. 7, the "Leningrad Symphony," composed as Hitler invaded Russia in 1941, was virtually appropriated by Stalin as great symbol of resistance (which it was--although Shostakovich intended it as a rebuke to all forms of socialism, including Stalin's), but the tables were turned again with Symphony No. 8, which was regarded as "counter-revolutionary." Through it all, the composer's work (generous extracts of which can be heard among the DVD bonus features) revealed how he really felt about life under Stalin, whose regime was responsible for the deaths of tens of millions of Russians. Much of Symphonies No. 4-8 consists of music that's harsh and aggressive, nervous and tragic; even No. 9, written to commemorate the Allied triumph in World War II and seemingly a light, joyous ode to victory, was in fact filled with musical sarcasm, a favorite mode of expression for Shostakovich. A combination of photos, vintage file footage (some of it featuring the composer himself), newer interviews with family, friends, and musicologists, and more, Shostakovich Against Stalin is a moving tribute to a great artist's will. --Sam Graham

Absolutely fascinating documentary which explains the developments of Shostakovich' Music under Sovier rule and the two official denunciations of his music. Shostakovich was a great composer. I absolutely love his intensity and ability to compose music which reflected the different episodes of Soviet history. He must have been a real genius !

If you are interested in Classical Music and the history of the Soviet Union, this documentary is an absolute "Must"! It builds a bridge between classical music and the political/economical developments in the Soviet Union. It is very wel put together and tells the story of one of the greatest composers in the 20th century..

The high baroque period of Vincent Price's career is well represented with this box, which offers seven horror-minded feature films and some supporting extras. If there were ever any doubt that Price was in on the joke, this collection would dispel it: in most of these movies he's having a ball, cheerfully sending up his own image--although the set also boasts perhaps his finest straight performance.
Thanks to the previous likes of House of Wax and The Fly, Price had his horror cred well established, which is perhaps why he's already winking at the idea in the earliest movie here, 1962's Tales of Terror. The movie certainly has an impeccable horror pedigree: three stories by Edgar Allan Poe, adapted by Richard Matheson, and directed by Roger Corman. Price stars in all three, making a slow start with "Morella," then clicking into gear with Peter Lorre in a broadly comic "The Black Cat," and winding up with great liquefying make-up (and Basil Rathbone) in "The Case of M. Valdemar." The 1963 Twice Told Tales borrows Corman's triptych set-up with three Nathaniel Hawthorne stories, but the results are fairly dull. The best of the trio is the first story, in which Price and Sebastian Cabot sip a youth potion, with regrettable results.
Witchfinder General (re-edited and known for years in the U.S. as The Conqueror Worm) is the gem of the collection, a truly harrowing film for which Price eschewed any hint of camp. He plays a 17th-century witchfinder, and the film pulls no punches in pointing out the sadism of his job (and the way religious paranoia is linked to misogyny). It's the best and final work by the promising director Michael Reeves, who died in 1969 from a drug overdose; he was only 24 when he made this film.
From there, the set skips into Price's 1970s silly season. The Abominable Dr. Phibes was a surprise hit in 1971, and it's easy to see the appeal: Price goes over the top in his portrayal of a Phantom of the Opera type who exacts revenge by invoking the Old Testament plagues. Joseph Cotten and Terry-Thomas are in the cast. Dr. Phibes Rises Again isn't quite as madly focused--this time the doctor is in Egypt, looking for a way to revive his late wife--but the tongue-in-cheek spirit prevails.
Those films paved the way for a similar but more inspired outing, and a movie Price spoke of as a personal favorite: Theater of Blood, a deliciously wicked thing about a ham actor who murders his critics. Not only does Price have a high old time reciting Shakespeare, he gets to knock off some wonderful victims: Robert Morley, Jack Hawkins, and Price's future wife Coral Browne among them. Diana Rigg is a welcome bonus. Madhouse rounds out the disc, an actively bad movie along the same lines; Price plays a horror-movie actor whose personal instability mirrors his film persona. The picture is ham-handed in every way, though it's good to see Peter Cushing toe-to-toe with Price. Also in the set: a Disc of Horrors, with an hour's worth of featurettes on the man. --Robert Horton

The show's gay and lesbian demographic shouldn't scare off potential straight fans, however: Rick & Steve is unabashedly R-rated with its provocative and occasionally raunchy humor (this is definitely NOT a show for prudes), but it's readily accessible to any open-minded fans of The Simpsons and South Park. Expanding on an award-winning 1999 comedy short that he created with animated Lego figures, series creator Q. Allan Brocka brings refreshing candor to Rick (voiced by Will Matthews), Steve (peter Paige), and all the other plastic-toy characters who populate West Lahunga Beach, "the gayest of gay ghettoes" where Rick & Steve share their "fabulously decorated double-income-no-kids home." In the premiere episode "Guess Who's Coming for Quiche?," Rick is thrilled when his lesbian best friend Kirsten (Emily Brooke Hands) asks him to be a sperm donor so she can have a child with her partner Dana (Taylor M. Dooley), a mullet-sporting bull dyke who hates men with a passion. The only problem is that Steve and Dana can't stand each other, and much of the humor in Rick & Steve arises from their constant barrage of gay and lesbian insults. Adding to the fireworks is the co-dependent coupling of 19-year-old "club kid" Evan (Wilson Cruz) with Steve's best friend Chuck (British gay icon Alan Cumming), a "bitter old queen" who's disabled and HIV positive. Also included in the regular cast is Condi Ling (Margaret Cho), the show's resident fag hag (er, make that "alternative lifestyle companion") and Rick & Steve's occasionally magical cat Pussy, who can talk, but only when she wants to. Good writing is the foundation of any successful sitcom, and the 6-episode first season of Rick & Steve has plenty of it. Loaded with snappy comebacks, outrageous one-liners and absurd situations that somehow make sense, the series is propelled by a defiant disregard for political correctness, but its edginess (unlike the juvenile antics of South Park) derives from good-natured compassion for its mostly-likeable characters, contrasted with a low-budget aesthetic that combines Day-Glo pastels and primary colors with simple Playskool anatomy. Released almost immediately after the first season ended in August 2007, this highly entertaining DVD offers an abundance of bonus features including 12 hilarious one-or-two-minute "digisodes" originally shown on the official Rick & Steve website, a pair of informative behind-the-scenes featurettes, interviews with the voice cast, and clips from other MTV Networks programming. (Check out the clip for "Tranny 911" – it's almost as funny as Rick & Steve.) The only thing missing here is the original Rick & Steve short from 1999 --Jeff Shannon

Remember watching this silly little comedy from your childhood? It may not have aged all that well, but is still goofy, good fun. Okay, so you can spot the stunt double, and Don Knotts's twitches are a little more obvious. It's okay. I do like how they teach the colors and shapes, although the production value could be better for the price. It doesn't have an actual storyline, but it's a decent educational video. Unlike some I've seen, it's not confusing or unclear in anyway. The use of real kids is good, too. Helps hold my son's attention. He's two and doesn't ask for this video by name, but if I put it in, he usually watches. The colors section is the best I've seen so far.

'Where Eagles Dare' is top pulp action WWII with 'Kelly's Heroes' being dragged down by its era of which it was made. Hippies don't belong in a WWII movie!

Outside of that, it sadly lacks much in the way of extras or visual improvements with barely minimal upgrades to to the Blu~ So I'd advise a purchase of the DvDs rather than this. Yes I did buy this in the hopes that the company would've done some better clean up for the visual, but was roundly disappointed for their blatant lack of care to it.

This ambitious attempt at Shakespearean horror is compromised by a script (by Danny McBride and returning director Len Wiseman, Beckinsale's real-life husband) that's more confusing than it needs to be, with too many characters and not enough storytelling detail to flesh them all out. Aspiring to greatness and falling well short of that goal, Underworld: Evolution succeeds instead as a full-throttle action/horror thriller, with enough swordplay, gunplay, and CGI monsters to justify the continuation of the Underworld franchise. This movie falls short of the original, and is plainly, a horrible sequel. Without the enigmatic Lucien, the charismatic Viktor and the sinister Kraven, the plot falls short and is boring. When those characters died, the story died, as did the incredible acting. Bill Nighy (Viktor) and Michael Sheen (Lucien) were what made the first movie and are both highly talented actors. Scott Speedman (Michael) is a boring character, and a mediocre actor. I did not feel the chemistry between him and Selene in this movie just like I didn't see it in the first movie.

There was nothing interesting going on with the raunchy sex scenes and the whole Corvinus family storyline with Marcus and William. BORING.

I only give it 2 stars because of some scenes from the past featuring my favorite character Viktor in it. Other than that, it's a 1 star movie and not really worth seeing.

But that's only the beginning; a chase through the city streets rivals the ingenious acrobatics of Jackie Chan, with Jaa leaping between panes of glass, over a bicycle in motion, and through a wreath of barbed wire. Jaa's fighting prowess has been compared to Bruce Lee, Jet Li, and just about every other martial arts master, but he has an equal degree of charisma as well. He won't win acting awards, but his engaging presence carries the movie. One word of warning: The numerous fights will make you wince as much as gape in astonishment. Ong-Bak follows the action-flick tradition that the hero needs to be as battered as possible before he ultimately triumphs, and the battering is intense. --Bret Fetzer

This Movie was awesome amazing stunts no wires or CGI just kick ass fast pace martial arts. This movie was a breath of fresh air, bringing Mauy Thai to the fore front of action movies. It has a good plot that seems original to a Martial Arts movie (at least to me) even tho everytime I put this movie in my dvd player I always fast forward it to the fight scences. But great movie hes not close to jackie chan but, to me hes already ahead of jet li, cause I cant stand "wire-fu" movies but anyway this movie is diffently worthly of being a true martial arts movie fans collection.

Typically categorized as a horror film, The Wicker Man is actually a serious and literate thriller about modern paganism, written by Anthony Shaffer (Sleuth) with a deft combination of cool subjectivity and escalating dread. (Despite this promising directorial debut, British filmmaker Robin Hardy didn't make another film until The Fantasist, a little-seen thriller released in 1986.) We're introduced to the friendly but mysterious residents of Summerisle (located off the west coast of Scotland), where the isolated community enacts rituals that seem, at first, to be merely unconventional. When called in to investigate an anonymous tip about a missing child, mainland police sergeant Howie (Edward Woodward) is treated as an outsider, and the ominous Lord Summerisle (Christopher Lee) has the inside advantage. As the repressed policeman is taunted by the island's sensuous atmosphere, his investigation leads to increasingly disturbing implications.
With phallic symbols and soothing music at every turn, Summerisle is a pleasant haven for those who perform the pagan rituals of Lord Summerisle's maverick ancestors. These earthy ceremonies are presented with alluring authenticity, and the island's tempting eroticism is fully expressed by the landlord's daughter (Britt Ekland), who fills Howie with barely suppressed carnal desire. (Sirens took a comedic approach to a similar situation in 1994.) And yet the mystery of the missing girl remains, with clues that hint at a darker reality beneath the colorful local customs. When that reality is ultimately discovered, Howie becomes the crucial element in the islanders' most elaborate ritual, which is where the film's title comes into play. It's been quite a while since I've seen this one. It was considered rather shocking at the time it was made and is rather dated. Still, it's worth a watch and by far, better than the remake. Christopher Lee is a pleasure to watch, as always. Edward Woodward as the constable is wonderful, singing hymns right up to the end.

I was slightly disappointed by the title. I've seen DV8 performing couple of times and their performances were entertaining, innovative and had a really good atmosphere.

The DVD consists of 3 pieces, and they're shot for camera, not a performance recording.

I think I had higher expectations, remembering the performances from a long time ago.

The band played great, and it was a really tight set. It was fantastic seeing all four of the original members "getting down" in their 50's. Rod Price has gained some weight in his advancing age and sweat is pouring off of him as he makes his guitar cry mercy. Rod, along with Lonesome Dave, is no longer with us, RIP.This was one of Dave's final shows before he died of cancer but he sings heartily and is quite upbeat although the audience is strangely unengaged. Younger rockers should take note of the work ethic of this band.

The overall production could have been better, especially the use of the cameras. The sound was great but seemed to vary a bit at times. But it was not all that noticeable and the strength of the performance carried the day. The song selection was as follows:

Let me start off by saying that I love both Superman and Batman and put them together and I got have it. That being said this was not there best work. When you put two complexed and iconic figures together (Superman/Batman) and then you pit them against their greatest foes (Lex Luthor/The Joker) you expect an explosion not a firework display. Now don't get me wrong it wasn't horrible and I didn't hate it I guess I just expected more. This was more suitable for an episode of J.L.A. or something around that line. There were some good points however brief. The back and fourth between the heroes and villains as well as with each other was quite entertaining. So if your like me and just love all that is Superman/Batman give it a look. Just remember don't expect too much and don't over pay.

The Monterey International Pop Festival, the three-day event staged in 1967 that has become one of rock music's most famous and in some ways greatest concerts, gets the royal treatment with this three-disc boxed set.
Material on two of the three discs has already been widely available. Monterey Pop, D.A. Pennebaker's 79-minute, 1968 film, effectively sets the scene for the festival, which took place during the fabled "Summer of Love," when the hippie ethos was in its fullest flower, especially on the West Coast. And while not all the featured performances are thrilling, those that are--principally by the Who, Jimi Hendrix, and the amazing Ravi Shankar--are worth the price of admission, especially in the high-definition digital transfer and new 5.1 mix seen and heard here. The same can be said for Jimi Plays Monterey and Shake! Otis at Monterey, which appear in the boxed set on a separate disc and provide a much fuller look at Hendrix's and Otis Redding's incendiary sets (literally, in the former case).
Those two discs are also loaded with bonus features, including audio commentary by Pennebaker, festival producer Lou Adler (on Monterey Pop), and author Peter Guralnick (Shake!); audio-only remarks by some of the performers; photos; trailers; and other material. At once a merciless skewering of all things fanboy and an extremely satisfying addition to the Futurama franchise, Bender's Game is among the best of the animated series' feature length adventures. The game in question is Dungeons and Dragons, and Bender wants in--only robots aren't programmed with the necessary imagination. Naturally, Bender's plans to develop one go completely awry and land him in an android asylum. The role-playing plotline later re-emerges--in typically convoluted Futurama fashion--via a subplot involving Professor Farnsworth's conversion of dark matter into spaceship fuel, which created a key to a very D&D-influenced universe where our hapless heroes eventually find themselves. The alternate world storyline allows for much lampooning of fantasy tropes, with Lord of the Rings receiving the lion's share of the tweaks. Seeing as how the writers have already devoted much of the movie's running time to parodying Star Wars and Star Trek (and their Lego offshoots), one might think that Bender's Game might suffer from pop-culture overload, but surprisingly, it all feels fresh and frequently funny, and the writers are wise to ground the story in their eccentric characters rather than pinballing them through an endless string of gags. The result is probably the strongest of the direct-to-DVD Futurama releases to date, and one that newcomers to the show's cracked universe can appreciate as much as longtime fans.As with previous Futurama DVD releases, the extras come fast and furious on Bender's Game: commentary by members of the cast and production team (including Matt Groening) is both informative and funny, while interviews with the writers and producers discuss, among other topics, the influence of Dungeons and Dragons on the series and the 3D models used in the feature. Aspiring animators might appreciate "How To Draw Futurama in 83 Easy Steps and the storyboard animatic for the first part of the story, while the "Genetics Lab" feature allows for some amusing Dr. Moreau-style cross-breeding of the characters. Recording session bloopers and a deleted scene offer their own laughs, but the most enjoyable extra must be the preview for the next Futurama feature, Into the Wild Green Yonder, which suggests a shocking development for one of the show's regulars. -- Paul Gaita

i won't say i'm a huge fan of Futurama.i have seen a few episodes of the TV series and was not all that impressed. i found them to be mostly slow and boring and unfunny.but,since my friend had bought this direct to video Futurama movie,i thought why not.what's that the worst that could happen?well,as it turns out,i liked it.i thought the story was very interesting,and flowed very well and there were some very funny moments and funny characters.the best part was that i was able to follow everything without knowing that much about the series.after watching this movie(number 3 in the series)i might check out the other three Futurama movies.they are:#1 Bender's Big Score:#2 The Beast With A Billion Backs:#4 Into the Wild Green Yonder.for me,Bender's Game is a 3.5/5
